Seems to me he's being hung, drawn and quartered by Abbott before there's any sort of judicial inquiry. The real 'joke' is that Turnbull was up for the same 'offence' but was allowed to keep working while it was sorted out!! Hypocrisy at its worst.

US Marine attacks Darwin women

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/fashion/if-youve-got-it-dont-flaunt-it-us-marine-tells-aussie-women/story-e6frfn7i-1225816449311

If you've got it don't flaunt it, US Marine tells Aussie women

. US Marine criticises Aussie dress standards
. Says: "Leave something to imagination"
. Top End women not impressed

A US Marine Captain has attacked the dress standards of Australian women after a night on the town in Darwin.

Capt John Campbell said the city's women wore too little to attract "nice men" after he spent a night out on Mitchell St,

>>>>>

What, like at Christmas parties?

Maybe they're not trying to attract "nice men"?

I was just reading that bambu....LOL......I think if you've got it flaunt it (if u so desire especially in a climate like Darwin) however if u haven't got it enhance it (cover the lumps bumps etc still can be stylish sexy etc)....

amusing though that he wrote the letter...maybe sour grapes LOL

LOL

As the Darwin woman of the Forum...let me tell you, it isn't easy to buy clothes which one can look good in and survive in this climate.

One of my first functions to attend was at our version of Govt House...I just about broiled in a slinky classic silk/nylon number which cost me > $200 in Perth.

Most women wear cotton clothing when they go out...nylon, silk and linen just DO NOT allow one to survive. Shoes? Do not get me started! I wore a pair of Stilettos out recently...fully enclosed shoes ensure that you will be 'sloshing' inside your shoes....hence our predilection for open shoes up here.

The shops up here are pretty pathetic to be very honest...we have Kmart, Target, Big W and a few of the commercial boutique places. I do my Clothes shopping when I go to Brisbane or Adelaide with work

Mitchell St is our version on Kings Cross crossed with Lygone Street.
It's hardly indicative of the City

If he needed to see 'well dressed' women he should have gone to Nightcliff, Parap, the Fannie Bay Yacht Club, Cullen bay...and a number of other places...

Yes, as I suspected Mitchell St to be.

Not many 'Southern Belles' in hooped long dresses, bonnets and parasols in Kings Cross.

Sounds like he's a proper gentleman captain...with standards...no bad thing these days.
Wonder what he expected Mitchell St to be like...and what the women out for the night there would be dressed like?
Niteclubs are not 'Fashions on the Field' race day.Maybe he expected an elite
NY niteclub style st...in winter, with coats and long sleeve warm dresses...like back home.

Mitchell St at night, probably short skirts and backless 'serviette' on a string tops...my guess.

He's not the first to complain:

women incite men's lust with 'satanic dress'

Miranda wrote about it:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/National/Muslim-cleric-women-incite-mens-lust-with-satanic-dress/2005/04/23/1114152362381.html

"Strapless, backless, sleeveless, nothing but satanic skirts, slit skirts, translucent blouses, miniskirts, tight jeans: all this to tease man and appeal to his carnal nature."

>>>>>

Lots of 'carnal nature' sins/cheating sins happening at Christmas parties, boozy farewell parties, in VIP rooms in certain clubs etc lately.
'Visual creatures' are the males of the species.

Please, do not judge us all by the "jar heads", most of them go in the marine corps because they are not smart enough to score very high on the military entrance tests. Being an officer, opening his mouth like that in a foreign country , would get him charged with conduct unbecoming an officer in any other branch, but they are stupid grunts and its more or less allowed or expected of them.  I have no problem with women wearing as little as they want or nothing at all for that matter ;)  If I heard him say something like that, I would just have to imply that maybe he likes the boys.

4.50am, radio host today:

"Darwin is the world capital of broken jaws...350 per year, more than any other city in the world.
These broken jaws are mostly alcohol-related and happen outside pubs, clubs and niteclubs at weekends".  ;)

In Reply to, Bambu. It is very cold here. -9F on the front porch at 5:30pm and getting colder. Not a fit night out for man nor beast. I have some joint problems and they are really bothering  me with the cold. Knees, back and now my ankle is hurting me. Maybe I am just a wimp, but worst I have hurt in a while.
I dream of scantily clad women, I must wonder what is wrong with that guy. He should be thankful to be in a warm climate, a friendly country, and not in Afghanistan. Makes me want to hit him and tell him how ashamed I am that he is wearing the uniform if an American.

It's perfectly OK,  he's allowed to write to the paper and express an opinion, we're not Communist China yet!
If we don't like what he has to say we'll "baaash" him!...verbally and politely of course! ;D..no broken jaw!  8)

In fact he's quite correct to a certain extent, 'mystery' is a 'treasure', and more young women should embrace it.

The dress standards and deportment of many young Aussie women today leave a lot to be desired...many of the ones on the last few years of 'Big Brother' here as perfect examples of how NOT to sit...etc.

Maybe he was so shocked at what he saw he was compelled to say something...as he felt he was among friends...just like being at home.

Well in my opinion, its bad manners and not something a proper officer would make a comment on. He is a guest in your country and represents the USA and should be in no place to judge cultures or customs of other nations. This is precisely the sort of thing the military seeks to avoid. If I were his commander, I would send him some place where he would have something to really complain about.

I should imagine that it has been brought to the attention of the Services & he has probably been dealt with already ;)
Tai Chi - Mind, body and spirit are all exercised simultaneously.  The continuous flowing movements of Tai Chi are based on the principle that running water never stagnates.  The gentle movements relax your muscles and joints while strengthening your body and mind.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the bad end, I rate his 'sin' a 1.

On the other hand we were only too happy to receive phone calls and emails from the 'captain' of a US warship anchored in Sydney, and at sea, who used to contact the radio station and praise the Howard govt and us for being in the C.O.W. and fighting the war on terror.
