Seems to me he's being hung, drawn and quartered by Abbott before there's any sort of judicial inquiry. The real 'joke' is that Turnbull was up for the same 'offence' but was allowed to keep working while it was sorted out!! Hypocrisy at its worst.

$100,000 stashed inside Salvation Army store suitcase
BY MEGAN LEVY
06 Apr, 2010 01:20 PM
A shopper who forked out a few dollars for a second-hand suitcase at a Melbourne Salvation Army Store may be unaware there is up to $100,000 stashed in its lining.

The suitcase was donated to the Salvos in Beaconsfield by a woman who did not know her husband had hidden the cash in the bag's lining.

The distraught man contacted the Salvation Army last Tuesday in a bid to retrieve the suitcase but it had already been sold, Salvation Army spokesman Major Brad Halse said.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/04/06/2865564.htm?section=justin

A man and woman have been charged with theft by finding after they bought a suitcase lined with tens of thousands of dollars from a Salvation Army store.

The suitcase had been deposited at the Beaconsfield Salvo store in Melbourne's south-east in March by the owner's wife after a clean-out before it was purchased by a Berwick couple - a 34-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man.

They were arrested and charged on March 18.

Police say they have recovered most of the money which had been put into different bank accounts.

Before the suitcase was recovered Salvation Army spokesman Brad Halse said the new owner was probably unaware of what was inside the case.

"The person could find himself in a bit of trouble if he went overseas with the suitcase and customs went through it," Mr Halse said.

"But our experience is that most people are honest when they find a significant amount of money like this."

One of my local op shops that I was in recently also has eftpos and credit card facilities. Why not - not everyone carries cash.

Bloody people using cards in the supermarket express lanes should be paying cash!

And they're not kids' play centres where they have fun trying to operate the cards '50' times while their mothers giggle either!

People wanting to use cards and use the supermarket as a 'cash out' bank should be made get in the ordinary register lines.

Op shop EFTPOS?...people might buy $500 worth of goods.

Weare increasingly a cashless society

Not everyone who hops into op Shops is on the breadline either
I frequent them as I often find some great things
As far as I am concerened, this equates my my donations to charities.

I recall a couple of Xmas's back in Perth, a group of friends and I agreed to do all our Xmas present buying at Op Shops.
We all found some lovely and unique items to give to those we cared about.

I was listening to a radio discussion about the OpShop 'find'... apparently if they had gone to the Police with the money and it had not ben claimed after a certain period of time, they would have been gifted it.

I still want to know WHY someone had that amount of cash hanging around in a suitcase...

Recall my dear old dad on his death bed telling my mother to check out the back of his little transistor radio that he kept in the bedroom...had his little stash hidden there....not talking thousands by the way.

Slightly unrelated but... I love Op shopping. However, it's becoming harder and harder to do... The women get the entire store... Men are lucky to get half a rack...

Although, I do enjoy picking up the odd 'label' item for less than the price of a coffee...

I love a good bargain. There's a surprisingly large amount of clothes at op shops that are new that have been donated because they wont sell in stores. I've gotten a few new shirts that way. Also It's recycling and supporting a charity.
