Seems to me he's being hung, drawn and quartered by Abbott before there's any sort of judicial inquiry. The real 'joke' is that Turnbull was up for the same 'offence' but was allowed to keep working while it was sorted out!! Hypocrisy at its worst.

Wandering by to say 'Hi'. Completely flat out at the moment, studying 2 courses and teaching 3, plus buying a townhouse on the Gold Coast for our big move in a few months. All the developments are good ones, though. Hope all's well with all here.

Well lets not worry about it then.

We won't bother planning for a future, because we won't see it...good thinking.

Let he who haveth the gold payeth the way!

I don't need new broadband, my current plan is fast enough so i fail to see why i should subsidise someone else to the tune of 43-100 billion dollars, dollars that would be better spent building new hospitals or funding a respectable ADF among other things.

Maybe when you - or one of yours, has:

a mortal wound or disease, and the hosptial can link live to the worlds best physician to fix it?

been travelling overseas, and after a terrorist attack or some such, you can speak to then on Skype (only better) to know that they are OK, or to see the new grandchild.

How much of the country is actually going to be linked?
Mobile phones cover 96% of the population - well that;s the claim by the phone companies. And they are correct - 96% of the POPULATION - but nothing like 96% of the country.

I fear that this NBN will be the same - a vast majority of the population may be able to access it (if they can afford it) but it won't reach 96% of the country. So you living in a regional area like you do will always be covered as you are now - outback, well that may be another question!!

Hospitals and Business allready have access to a broadband network that provides NBN speeds and band-width, the NBN would make no difference to that situation what-so-ever and it amazes me how little pro-NBN people actually know about the internet and who pays for getting what.

The NBN will go broke after Telstra customers switch to the upcoming 4G network and save a lot of money in the process.

I white elephant it is and just another corrupt commuist idea from a government that is responsible for the deaths of its citizens because it couldn't run any program it instituted.

They should all be in prison like you or i would if our business' killed people.

Just playing devils advocate for a moment but isnt that a bit like me saying I am happy with my health so why should my tax $ be used to buy fancy MRI machines that I wont use!
I dont want this NBN either dont get me wrong the NBN I want is 100 times faster than what they are proposing and you know they will never deliver what they say they will anyway!

It's really not the same, the market allready provides the requirements that the NBN seek to provide. The NBN is driven by socialist ideology and not need, simple.

Agreed that it is driven by ideology and people who do not understand either the need or the method of delivery but a national high bandwidth network of some kind will in time be a necessity and while this proposed NBN will not suffice someone somewhen needs to plan for our future data requirements!

We're not just talking about businesses, nor have you considered entrepreneurs.  Ten years ago we could not have imagined You Tube would become ubiquitous whilst most of the country struggled on dial up.

In fact Optus is barely rolled out to satisfactory areas of the country, all I have to do is walk out to my front yard to lose an Optus phone signal

Wireless always suffers, the more people using it at once the less useable it becomes

Most people don't have access to ADSL2 and Cable unless they live in the metropolitan areas.

Telstra as the fixed cable monopolist no longer under government control does not have to concern itself for the welfare of the people that live outside high density metropolitan areas

And that's without starting a discussion on CEO pay days

And under the NBN the people in rural areas won't be getting cable services either, they'll be getting a subsidised satelite service that will be slower thatn the cable we get now more than likely because the government has yet to even provide any information about who exactly is going to priovide this new satelite. (or who we'll pay to make it an launch it, it'll either be the chinese or americans)

Cable, ADSL and the NBN will slow down when more people connect to it, there is no diference between that and wire-less, apart from the 4Gen Wireless that Testra will roll out will cost less than half that of the NBN to install and provide comaprable speeds.

I think you continuing the drum bereat of "wireless slows down" only shows how little you actually know about cable servces and how they work.

reagdsr,

Crimson

Yes I think my Degree in IT with minors in Corporate Information Systems & Online and Web Based Systems is absolutely useless.

As for rural areas getting subsidised satellite, doesn't look that way in New England to me.

I will also add the NFP I do work for doesn't have access to the stuff that it is suggested businesses all ready have access to.

If I have not said it all ready, the NBN wouldn't be necessary if Telstra was privatised correctly (both sides of politics are to blame) as outlined in the WIN-WIN Scenario in this PDF www.tja.org.au/index.php/tja/article/view/34/48
