There are times when I reallyDO think I should start a Darwin Thread..some of t he stuff that happens up here leaves me totally bemused

Like this one...about a fish that's gotten in to the Laggon at the Watefront...a snazzy relaxation spot where we also have the Wave Pool:

A HOOK, a bungee cord and a fast swimmer nearly put an end to a fish terrorising bathers in a popular city lagoon.

A pair of men had the line tight around their ankles when they swam across the pool and hooked the beast.

But the cord snapped and the fish broke lose.

This one about the woman who stripped off in the middle of a pretty popular eaterie in an attempt to win back the heart of her fellow. He was there with another bird

A WOMAN has stripped off naked in front of dozens of people having breakfast at a popular Darwin restaurant.

Witnesses said the woman took off all her clothes after she and another woman had a full-on fist fight over a man yesterday.

"That was just a shocker," eyewitness Fernando Dentes, 34, said. "People were trying to eat."

Police said a 39-year-old woman had to be picked up from the median strip on Dick Ward Drive after she bared all in front of the Cool Spot Cafe in Fannie Bay.

The patrons were reportedly unimpressed. Children were rushed inside the venue and police were called to escort the naked woman away.

The woman was lying naked on the ground smoking a cigarette in full view of customers at the restaurant.

This is reminiscent of a few years ago when the telecommunications lines had a wobbly and everything went into meltdown

Which Bank ?

TERRITORY Commonwealth Bank customers could not withdraw cash today after the ATM and EFTPOS network collapsed.

In banks across the Territory nervous people queued to find out what had happened to their money.

Shops had to turn away Commonwealth Bank customers trying to pay with goods on EFTPOS.

There was also trouble with credit card transactions.

It didn't take long 

A SOUTHERN UFO-logist has finally seen his first UFO after 30 years of searching - and he had to come to the Northern Territory for the "ominous" experience.

Erik Black has been interested in UFOs since he was a child, but the 49-year-old from Brisbane had only heard stories, read books and watched movies about Unidentified Flying Objects in the sky, without ever getting to see "a real one" himself - until 2010 election night.

Actually I was in Darwin. Had lunch on the Stokes Hill Wharf. Saw the lagoon and wave pool. Had left the cozzies behind that day as we had travelled by free bus to the city. Was there the weekend of the V8's running.

Just being in the caravan park nearby on the Sunday was enough - but thanks for the offer.
12 years ago that was a nice quiet park - did they build the nearby airfield in that time?

As far as I'm aware, it's been there since pre Tracey...aerial pics I have from that time show one, but it is also the main RAAF Base too

The original airport was closer to the City.
Ross Smith Drive was the runway and the oldQANTAS Hanger still exists down that way - Parap, from memory

UFO PILGRIMS could soon be flocking to Darwin after the idea to hold a UFO conference in the Top End attracted the attention of a popular tourism website.

Embraceaustralia.com raised the question of whether Darwin could be the UFO hotspot of the world only days after the latest sighting of a "hamburger-shaped" light.

Earlier this week MIX FM radio presenter Pete Davies said he would welcome UFO spotters from around the world for a UFO convention.

He pondered if the Top End should "challenge Roswell and Wycliffe Well" and make Darwin the UFO capital of the world.

He said "once we get all the federal stuff out of the road" he was looking into plans for a convention.

A WOMAN at home alone was terrified when she heard someone having a shower in her house.

Police later found a red-faced neighbour who was so drunk that he went into the house because he thought it was his own.

"He was very apologetic," Superintendent Daniel Shean told the Northern Territory News.

The man got lost on the way to his house in Katherine on Wednesday night.

He walked into the home and took a shower in an attempt to sober up.  The 34-year-old householder was asleep upstairs.

She woke up, heard the water running and frantically rang the police.

When officers arrived, they found the 42-year-old sitting on the woman's verandah - dressed again.

TERRITORIANS aren't afraid to go out on a limb and believe in the unbelievable.

There's UFOs, a Territory tiger or a monkey on the loose in the northern suburbs of Darwin.

Now we can add the legendary drop bear to the list. A Darwin man has set up a Drop Bear Preservation Society - and he insists it is not a joke.

It appears Kevin La Motte is not the only one who believes fluffy koalas can turn into killers - more than 40 people turned up to the foundation meeting held at the weeken

I was in a car heading to Katherine with a couple of german tourists in the back seat
One commented on the number of car tires sitting in trees
I told them that the tires were there for the koalas to lounge in
