Seems to me he's being hung, drawn and quartered by Abbott before there's any sort of judicial inquiry. The real 'joke' is that Turnbull was up for the same 'offence' but was allowed to keep working while it was sorted out!! Hypocrisy at its worst.

Wandering by to say 'Hi'. Completely flat out at the moment, studying 2 courses and teaching 3, plus buying a townhouse on the Gold Coast for our big move in a few months. All the developments are good ones, though. Hope all's well with all here.

You can bank on losing your home
« on: November 09, 2010, 05:24:02 AM »

CBA boss Sir Ralph Norris admits extra rate rise will cause hurt

COMMONWEALTH Bank CEO Ralph Norris has conceded his bank's mammoth 0.45 per cent interest rate rise will cost some of his customers their homes, a reality he says causes him immense angst.

But in defence of his bank's Melbourne Cup Day rise, Sir Ralph said it was better to see "a few" foreclosures than have an economy hamstrung by a low-profit banking system.

>>>>> >>>>>

He should go back to New Zealand.

Variable rate home loans should be banned...the govt must act, now.

Time to regulate the banks.

Foreclosures...that's where families are standing out on the street with their few possessions...a few weeks before Christmas.
There's 'nowhere' to rent, the once govt owned bank now has no idea, and the $16m man CEO who grew up in a housing commission estate, now inhabits the world of the ruling elite and has forgotten where he came from.

It's a joke!...but the only ones laughing are the banks.
You get one life. What you do with it, and what is done to you...you have to live with that.

That's terrible.

Greedy banks!...baaah!
Nasty and misguided govts...70% of homes don't have mortgages.

Interest rates are going to continue to rise..."because of the strong economy".

Strong economy my ass!...small businesses are going broke all over the place, and the People can't afford to pay their bills of necessities...and people are losing their homes because greedy banks are just doing, and being allowed to just do...whatever they like!

Patience. If you work towards it you'll get there slowly but surely.

One problem many 'young ones' have got is expecting to have everything their parents have immediately... forgetting that their parents might have worked 30 years to get the stuff the have.

The wife and I arrived in Australia with her last months salary from her last job in the UK. We landed with nothing and owing nothing.

After all these years, (and after borrowing the deposit from a friend) we managed to build ourselves up to 'owning' our own house, i.e. owing hundreds of thousands of dollars and being knee deep in debt.

We're living the Australian dream! :D

Yeah... that's the thing.

I'm thinking rent is probably a better way to go than mortgaging and getting owned by interest...

Besides, being a teacher I will probably have to move around a fair bit...

Sure you will...graduate, start teaching, start saving...get married, two incomes, save more...save the deposit, then get a home loan.

There's life beyond the waterfront mansions, suburban mansions of the best suburbs, suburban mansions of the not such best suburbs of the big, now overcrowded and almost impossible to live in, big cities.

The people who actually own their homes outright are older folks, who've had time to pay the loans back after 25 or 30 years.

Lots of coastal and rural towns in Australia.

Units, town houses, villas...cheaper than houses as a rule.

When thinking of buying a home... you might want to be careful it's not built on a BIG HUGE 'sink hole'/mine shaft in the middle of Sydney or another capital city:

 http://aca.ninemsn.com.au/

Sodden suburbia
Home owners shafted. On ACA, the giant holes lying beneath suburban homes, causing properties to disappear before your eyes.
