Seems to me he's being hung, drawn and quartered by Abbott before there's any sort of judicial inquiry. The real 'joke' is that Turnbull was up for the same 'offence' but was allowed to keep working while it was sorted out!! Hypocrisy at its worst.

Wandering by to say 'Hi'. Completely flat out at the moment, studying 2 courses and teaching 3, plus buying a townhouse on the Gold Coast for our big move in a few months. All the developments are good ones, though. Hope all's well with all here.

MiMo (about time)
« on: February 20, 2011, 02:21:18 PM »
I have chosen to not introduce myself formally up till now, because if my nature, weaknesses or foibles were known before now I would have been prevented from achieving the things I have.

I am nothing special...but it is the people who were against me that brought these things to significance. I won't identify the persons who gave me trouble, instead in the lines that follow I will concentrate on giving you the reader a precis of the events that have made up my life.

I began my public foray into politics and the law in about February 2001. At this time I was struggling with my own demons. On a disability support pension, living on my own in a flat, divorced, and reasonably dysfunctional from the effects of these, and having been a child victim of sexual abuse at a government school.

I read in the media that a local politician, Andrew Evans MLC OAM, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Evans_%28pastor%29 was introducing a bill into parliament that would repeal section 76a of the criminal law consolidation act 1935. Effectively removing the bar to prosecuting people for sexual offences committed before 1 December 1982. I met with him and discussed what he needed from the members of the community. I joined ASCA http://www.asca.org.au soon after and began to bring these needs up in meetings, and looking at ways we could provide them.

I held various official positions at ASCA, I soon became director and attended the board meetings, with people like Dr Cathy Kezelman, Liz Mullinar and Hetty Jonston to name a few. Their inspiration fired me up to treck round S.A with an ASCA booth at every country fair to get signatures for the petition to go before the houses of S.A parliament.

Well approximately 2,000 or so signatures later we presented our prayers before parliament. Gratefully parliament decided to put it to a special committee and members of ASCA and other people made submissions to it. Upon the positive recommendation of the special committee and after the second reading of the bill as amended...on the 3rd of June 2003 the bill was passed by majority and assented into law.

About this time the speaker Peter Lewis http://www2.parliament.sa.gov.au/FormerMembers/Detail.aspx?PId=541  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Lewis_%28politician%29 had opened the speaker's office to all those who had been abused but had not had redress from the justice system or courts. I became a volunteer adviser and driver for Mr Lewis during this time up until the 2006 election. As we became more publicly visible we encountered stronger resistance. Wendy Utting and Barry Stanfield http://abcsport.com.au/news/stories/2008/12/12/2445366.htm?site=local along with myself campaigned for the exposing of high profile paedophiles that were operating in S.A. I might add that Minx was an integral part of this as well...Minx is an experienced advocate and campaigner that proved invaluable to our efforts.

Some of the things we dealt with...

http://www.abc.net.au/stateline/sa/content/2005/s1337881.htm

http://www.theage.com.au/news/National/Fears-rumours-lurk-in-heart-of-Adelaide/2005/04/15/1113509926198.html

Resulting in a further achievement of the establishment of the CISC inquiry

http://www.sa.gov.au/subject/Crime,+justice+and+the+law/Mullighan+Inquiry/Children+in+State+Care

Finally after charging Wendy Utting and Barry Stanfield with section 257 Criminal Defamation

http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/sa/consol_act/clca1935262/s257.html

They tried to muzzle parliament!

http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2005/s1338992.htm

Never in its 600 year histroy has any parliament ever broken the succession of parliamentary privilege.

These are some of the things that occurred during our campaigns...I have left out the six murders of people who approached Lewis and the CISC.

I have left out the pitiful attempts to harrass me by police, courts and private lawsuits.

Being that I am now studying a law degree at university I am now in a safer position to preserve my ability to be heard. I trust that members now can appreciate my enforced silence, that Mutation can now nod and say I see. Sorry Mutation I couldn't before now...not with the state government breathing down my neck. Plus I did through my actions, and others, cost them around 200 million dollars in extra funding for child protection services.

Respectfully and humbly your forum member.

Mutation, thank you for your kind comments, but I assure you my nature is not restrained...however restraint can be mentored....I have been fortunate to have had people that I could turn to in times when I wanted to scream the primal scream.

I accept your gracious comment but the credit goes to those who have taught me discretion and restraint where I would have reacted in anger.

It happens and oh how it does...if you can't cover it up you murder your whistleblowers.

I may...to give substance to this post... post the articles from the newspaper outlining these details and how they had been to the inquiry or were soon to appear before it.

MiMo, a true champion of the people you are and i mean that with all sincerity, many would have quit when it got too hard, many would have simply stayed silent where you have brought a torch to bare on those who needed to be brought into the light.

All i can say is, thank you for everything you have done, there are many potential victims out there now who will never know how much you've done, so again, thank you.

And to all those who from this forum stand tall in their relentless persuit of the filth of our society, a thank you to you to.

Regards,

Crimson

Thank you Crimson,

from the bottom of my heart thank you...

Now on to why it took me a few days to reply. It's not because I didn't have time, instead it has to do with the victim/survivor mentality. Essentially when I get praise, my mind cannot cope... I try to reason a reply, but whatever I think of, I get confused. Being praised is an unfamiliar mindset for survivors who have struggled with life's events most of their life.

I have given up on trying to get healing for myself, instead I just meet the world on my own terms each day.

I understand the magnitude of the things our group (and Minx) has achieved, but my mind can only see the vast amount of work left to do. For the work that has been already done, Crimson you, and everyone else is very welcome.

I am proud to be a part of this forum...why...for the past few years you put aside your objections to contentious statements I posted... you accepted me as I am... you interacted with me, all before I could go public with my material. Thank you it is an honour.

Thank you also to Chris...for putting up with me for so long.

Thanks for all your help and support Minx... you have literally breathed life back into my body when I was fading fast...

MiMo
