Seems to me he's being hung, drawn and quartered by Abbott before there's any sort of judicial inquiry. The real 'joke' is that Turnbull was up for the same 'offence' but was allowed to keep working while it was sorted out!! Hypocrisy at its worst.

Seeing that they are those here in favour of a forced carbon tax, I would ask them this.."do you pay extra for clean electricity"?
I have a feeling that if you are in total support of the carbon tax, then you would also be 'doing your bit' for clean power.

Vote now!

I see that some pay for "clean" electricity. Question - how is your power cleaner than your neighbours? Delivered along different wires?

Boy, some are easily taken in!

You were trying for a 'gotcha' of people who support the carbon price but don't already support sustainable energy, and that completely fell over.

Every one of us who believes action is urgent is already taking action.

Either you're failing to understand or you're being disingenuous. At the moment it costs more to produce electricity sustainably with solar or wind power than to produce it unsustainably with fossil fuels.

Of course there's nothing 'cleaner' about the individual electrons or the electrical potential they carry, but if consumers are willing to pay for generating companies to use sustainable technologies to generate power, they will.

People are actually very consistent in putting their money where their mouths are, and this poll provides clear evidence for that.

To quote Will Ferrell in 'The Other Guys': "Did that go the way you thought it was going to?"

Well, seeing that you think that you know everything, then it went the way you wanted it to.

Myself? I put up a poll so how people are thinking/reacting. Like any poll I do not have a result before the poll. I wait and view the result.

So, irrespective of your ill informed comment - I was not expecting anything any way!!

Please don't judge!!

Oh, my question still stands - how do you get cleaner power than your neighbour? Afterall, you pay for something, so you should be getting something.

To be even more explicit, there's no way, and no need, to track particular 'electricity'. The fact that I pay for some electricity to be generated sustainably means that some is. It doesn't need to be the same electricity that I use - I'm not even sure what that would mean in practical terms. I get electricity, and I get the satisfaction of knowing that I contributed to the sustainable generation of electricity.

The poll is somewhat flawed as it only determines if people are buying "Green" power or not it does not ask why they do or dont so any conclusions you draw other that  the % who do or dont is just supposition.

An i bet you wouldn't be so smug about it if you had you had to pay the real price for sustainable electricity in your bill.

Care to tell me how many wind generators it would take to take over the base-load power supplpied by coal burning power plants?

Care to tell me how much raw material and energy actually goes into making wind generators?

Or would you like to tell people that wind generators tend to only work when it is windy which may only be as little as 25% of the time?

Indeed, great plan that, bill everyone higher to pay for the generators that don't work most of the time and are in-fact damaging to the environment to make...

Great bunch of *censored* these greenies are, wouldn't know what was green even if it were eating their foot!

That's why I said there's no single magic bullet. No single renewable source replaces fossil fuels.

So we complement wind with solar with batteries with hydrogen fuel cells with hydroelectricity with nuclear with flywheels with sequestered-CO2 coal and so on.

Every step helps, but we're under no illusion these baby-steps are a complete solution.

Even if we stipulate that climate change isn't an issue, fossil fuels are finite. Gotta wean ourselves sometime...

Even if we stipulate that climate change isn't an issue, fossil fuels are finite. Gotta wean ourselves sometime...

I am sure they are but buiding subsidised wind farms that don't work half the time isn't gonig to solve anything.

We have more than 200 years of known coal reserves in Australia alone, finite fuel is not an issue for us and it won't be an issue for 5 generations.

What they're planning now is to ensure that those generations simply can't afford to buy fuel or exist off the government teet, which is after all, the socialist way.

Regards,

Crimson
