Nope.  Why are you letting spammers register, still?  If you dont watch out you'll get hit by the North Korean mob that hit cpaptalk.com

So the site is back... thanks (sort of) to Jumba. Where did it go?? I updated the software and it crashed. I investigated and was told the server was using an old version of PHP (5.3) and we needed to update to Version 7.0. Why this wasn't done before s anyone's guess.

I think 'everyone' vanished whilst the forum was down. It needs a bit of advertising. Question is *where* would be most effective?

Lots of junk posts.  I dont think they are bots, just spammers looking for a way to tout their wares in forums which are effectively DEAD, Chris.

Moving along.
« on: May 24, 2016, 10:28:06 PM »
Just left a shout about being missing... again... so thought I'd explain a little. Basically, we're just moving along with the moving. No idea how Bambu is getting on but *we're* motoring! The contracts are being drawn up, the photographer is booked for tomorrow and then we sit back and hope for the best.

Exactly what that will mean isn't clear yet. Some of me wants to buy a small B&B outside Melbourne; some of me wants to go north and live in hippyville (a.k.a. Nimbin) some of me is wondering whether to rent in a nearby suburb. No clear idea yet. We've lived around this area for 15+ years so it'd be hard to just up sticks and run.

Anyway, no matter where we go the site will stay put. The domains that link to the site are secure for a couple of years yet and as long as I don't cark it we should be fine for a long while yet. :)

Another option is to buy a motorhome or car and caravan and hit the road. We're got no idea of exactly *how* to do that... or if we'd be eligible for a pension if we did... but it might be worth a shot eh?? :D

You and the good Lady are in  the same boat as me.. :-\

Am trying to decide between a house and business in SA
OR
A Park home in Hervey Bay
OR
Buying a motorhome and embracing my Inner Gypsy

All I DO know is that my last day of work is 18th November

CC, having been doing a lot of travel both here and overseas for many years now, I have observed many "gypsies", heard many stories etc and have come to a few conclusions. 1) We have encountered many people who have sold everything up to travel (and yes in many cases you are entitled to "rental assistance" once you are homeless). I could not believe this when I first heard of it, but yes the Govt does in fact hand out R/A to many. In fact we became good friends with a caravan park manager, and he told us of the tourists who arrive in their huge motorhome/caravans, dripping with jewellery and every mod con, and then bring in a form for him to complete so that they can support their R/A claim. Obviously, you would find out more about this if you visited Centrelink. 2) We have encountered many along the road who have told us of health issues occurring whilst travelling and the result being that the partner/spouse etc has been left in dire straights.
What I have come to believe is that you should always have a land base, even if it is a little two bedroom unit in a country town somewhere that you are able to comeback too if you are no longer able to travel.

Australia is a vast land and in my opinion one of the best countries of all. So many amazing places to see and if you love Mother Nature then you will never be disappointed.

I had a laugh when I read the mention of Nimbin, I often made that same statement a few decades ago, a few years ago my husband and I decided to visit. What a disappointment, gone are the "fun loving hippies", the town (and this came from a store proprietor) is now full of ice, violence and not exactly a good place to visit. Still I have seen it and it wasn't exactly how I remember it being described back in the 1960's.

Fine for a long while yet?
More good news.

bambu is going along, slowly.
Have lived in the same home for 40+ years.
Look at all the clutter! [well, it's just stuff we use, sometimes...but do we need 5 suitcases, when we 'never' travel anywhere!]
We broke the "if a new item comes in, an old item must go out" rule.
6 Eskies, a few too many methinks.

Everything in the home was 'Mission brown" colour from the 70s.
The world has moved on from Mission brown and multi-coloured shag pile carpet.  :D
The blinds needed replacing, the whole place needing painting, the gardens needed re-planting/re-landscaping, "buyers demand excellence".
It's taken a long time to transform the home...but it's nearly finished.

Now comes the sale...selection of an agent, setting of a price, auction or private treaty, I have a headache already!  :D
